UNIQUE TERROIR AND SPECIFIC
GRAPE VARIETY

Côte des Blancs’ soil is made up with chalk. It acts as a water tank during draughts and prevents the vines from suffering from excessive water pressure. Regular water supply brings balance between acidity, sugar and aromas.

This terroir is particularly suited for the Chardonnay. In the Côte des Blancs, Chardonnay represent 97% of the grapes varieties planted. chalky soils confer minerality to the wines and produce elegant and worldwide famous Blanc de Blancs Champagnes.

Our Champagnes are exclusively from the Terroir of Vertus and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger.

VERTUS

Vertus is a Premier Cru situated in the southern part of the Côte des Blancs. Vertus is known to be a historical terroir for Pinot Noir, even though it was gradually replaced by Chardonnay. Vertus has still now the highest concentration of Pinot Noir in the Côte des Blancs. Champagnes from Vertus are mineral, lively and round.

LE MESNIL SUR OGER

Le Mesnil-sur-Oger is ranked as Grand Cru since 1950. Champagnes from this terroir are tense, sharp and straightforward with high minerality. A long period of ageing is therefore required.
